The Afternoon Classes
This three-day course offers a traditional journey into self-understanding through chanting, visualization, breath, and contemplative practice. Each day begins with a guided morning meditation and continues in the afternoon with the teaching, pronunciation, and meaning of a different Vedic chant. Friday explores the five sheaths and the question of identity with the Panchamaya shloka (non-Vedic). Saturday works with the body as a sacred cosmos through Laghunyāsaḥ. Sunday turns toward purification and direct recognition of the Self through Virājā Mantraḥ.
Friday - The Five Layers
Pañcamaya Śloka: Discover what does not change.
We begin with a guided morning meditation that opens the question of identity: who are you beneath the layers of body, breath, mind, and memory? In the afternoon, Tara teaches the Pañcamaya Śloka from Sri TVK Desikachar in full, including its meaning, pronunciation, and pitch accent, so the chant can be learned and practiced with confidence

Saturday - The Body as Cosmos
Laghunyāsaḥ: Breath, senses, and heart held in something larger.
The morning meditation invites you into the felt experience of the body as part of a greater whole. In the afternoon, Tara teaches the Laghunyāsaḥ as a living chant, unpacking its structure and meaning while guiding the group through the traditional recitation.

Sunday — The Return to Light
Virājā Mantraḥ: Purification and homecoming.
The final morning meditation turns toward release, clarity, and recognising what remains when what is unnecessary falls away. In the afternoon, Tara teaches the Virājā Mantraḥ in full, explaining the text and leading the chant as a complete closing practice for the weekend.
