From Sthūla to Sūkṣma: A Thirteen-Day Pilgrimage Into Practice, Study & Devotion
Yoga Yajña carries you from the gross into the subtle, through practice, ritual and direct transmission.
Most retreats hand you a schedule of classes. This pilgrimage hands you something older: an unbroken thirteen days in which āsana, chanting, philosophy, and ritual are not separate activities but one continuous unfolding, the way this tradition has always moved through a serious student.
Mysore
Sthūla Śarīra; form, ritual, sound
A single, rare āsana class taught by Sri Subha, the youngest daughter of Sri Krishnamacharya, a direct link to the source of this entire lineage.
A walk through the city Tara calls her second home: its temples, its markets, its restaurants, the corners she keeps returning to for decades.
A sound bath with Akhil Lanka. A Carnatic music session with Ranjini Kushik. And a conversation with Saraswathi Jois, one of Ashtanga’s most respected living teachers, offered with a warmth rarely extended outside her own shala.
Nothing here is theoretical. You leave Mysore having touched the source directly.
Rushikulam
Sūkṣma Śarīra; mantra, study, absorption
The pilgrimage turns inward. Sustained study with Dr Vigneshwar Bhat anchors this stretch, Vedic priest, scholar, author of What is God and The Splendour of Mantra, one of the last remaining transmitters of this material at genuine depth.
Mornings open with Sandhyā Vandanam. Vedic, Tantric and Purāṇic chanting run through the days. Durgā Dīpa Namaskāra Pūjā and continued Tattva Bodha study give shape to the arc from outer ritual toward inner discernment. Excursions to Hampi and Gokarna offer air, distance, and perspective between the deeper work.
