Maha Shivratri: The Great Night of Śiva
A Free Online Practice & Teaching
Friday, February 13 at 3pm London
On the darkest night of the lunar month — the 14th night before the new moon — we gather to honor Maha Shivratri, the Great Night of Śiva.
Śiva is revered as Ādi Yogi, the first yogi — the one who revealed yoga as a path of inner transformation. It is said that on this night, the planetary positions naturally support an upsurge of energy within the human system, making it a potent time for both physical and spiritual growth.
Rather than spectacle or excess, Maha Shivratri is traditionally observed through stillness, mantra, devotion, and awareness.
To honor this sacred night, I invite you to join me for a free live class, where we will move gently into practice together:
A short, grounding discussion on the meaning of Maha Shivratri
Chanting of three traditional stotras:
Śivamānasa Pūjā
Liṅgāṣṭakam
Śiva Pañcākṣarī Mantra
108 rounds of japa, practiced slowly and intentionally
A closing conversation on how to carry this quality of awareness through the rest of the day and night
This is an opportunity to step out of noise and into direct relationship with practice; to listen, chant, and orient the mind toward something timeless.
