About this Course
In the yoga tradition, the Guru is not understood merely as a personality or instructor. The word guru points to that which removes darkness and reveals knowledge. Through mantra, pronunciation, reflection, and discussion, this course invites students to understand the Guru Stotram as a living teaching rather than simply a devotional chant.
This 2-hour course with Tara Mitra will guide students through the correct pronunciation, rhythm, meaning, and contemplative significance of the Guru Stotram. Students will learn how chanting supports attention, steadiness, humility, and receptivity — qualities that are essential for sincere study and practice.
This course is ideal for yoga practitioners, teachers, and students who wish to deepen their connection to Sanskrit chanting, yoga philosophy, and the traditional student–teacher relationship.
